Steering Committee

The Steering Committee works to ensure the Partnership is creating scientific advancements and major improvements in health care to benefit Minnesota.

IT SEEKS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MINNESOTANS

• Achieve breakthroughs in new methods to diagnose and treat major diseases
• Explore research that neither the University nor Mayo Clinic could conduct alone
• All research findings will be made public

IT SEEKS TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE OVERSIGHT

• Individual patient data will remain confidential
• All research will comply with all state and federal laws
• All research will be subject to University and Mayo Clinic review boards that protect patients who participate in clinical research and animals used for research
• Oversight of appropriate intellectual property and patent decisions will be made in accordance with existing institutional rules, policies and laws and negotiated between both institutions
• There will be no research involving human reproductive cloning

IT SEEKS EXTERNAL INPUT

• Bioethicists working collaboratively between both institutions will provide input as part of the research review process
• An external review panel of distinguished scientists will review all proposals eligible for funding. A joint University-Mayo panel will consider that input as they make final funding decisions
